I’ve finally set sail, and am so far having a great time!
The ship is really fun with lots of activities and things to do to keep us busy. There is a very diverse mixture of students both from around the world and the country. I was lucky enough to be put in an outside deck 3 cabin with a window and everything! I have a really sweet roommate from Texas.
So far no sea sickness, which I don’t think I will have to worry about..I hope. I really like being out at sea. It’s so surreal to feel so small out on this vast ocean.
I’ve just been able to settle down from a CRAZY day! When arriving at the port, my passport was no where to be found! I thought that it was definitely gone and that I was not going to be able to board the ship and continue with the program L It was one of the worse experiences of my life. After about a half an hour of tears, panic, and me unpacking my entire set of luggage, Tiana (the other UHH Semester at Sea voyager), realized that she had accidentally taken my passport. I was overjoyed beyond words when she pulled out that passport!
If it had not been found, I would have had to get another passport in the Bahamas, fly to Florida to get a Brazil visa, then meet the ship in Dominica, something that I would definitely not have been able to do! Having gone through that experience, I appreciate being on the ship sooo much more!
I miss Hawaii, but it’s dawning on me more and more just how much fun I am going to be having on this trip. We start classes on Friday and port in Roseau Dominica on Sunday Jan. 16th!
I have free e-mail access with this account, so please e-mail me whenever you can, it’s nice to have a connection to back home at the end of the day after being pretty much in the middle of no where.
It would really mean a lot to me if everyone checked out my travel Blog. This is my first blogging experience, and so far it’s pretty fun. The link to my Blog is: sydneyseastheworld11.blogspot.com/
